William Hope Hodgson (1877–1918) was an English author of horror and fantastic fiction. He likewise attracted the bit of notice as a lensman & a failing immune system-muscleman.
Hodgson ran away to sea at a age of baker's dozen & at length served in the Merchant Marine. When the "body-building" business venture failed he decided to trend lines himself by writing.
